Christmas is just round the corner. But at the same token its also the holiday season for some of us. Hence, the early Christmas celebration.

So what is Christmas without turkey, Gingerbread, Cupcakes and the likes!! We were so stuffing our face. Christmas do was done at my sister's house. .... AND she did ALL the cooking. It was super delicious!

Since there are only the 3 of us we still have some Turkey, Roast beef, Stuffings and Meatloaf in the freezer.

This is the first time I am celebrating my birthday in a big way. .... At least to me. Why you may ask ..... Hhhhmmm well falls right after the 10th of Muharam. According to the Muslim calendar which I rarely follow. Not sure if I am going through a phrase of life or following it for the rest of my life. But I hope its the latter.

The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel located in Singapore, constructed in 2005–2008. Described by its operators as an observation wheel,it reaches 42 stories high, with a total height of 165 m (541 ft), making it the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, 5 m (16 ft) taller than the Star of Nanchang and 30 m (98 ft) taller than the London Eye.

Situated on the southeast tip of the Marina Centre reclaimed land, it comprises a 150 m (492 ft) diameter wheel, built over a three-story terminal building which houses shops, bars and restaurants, and offers broad views of the city centre and beyond to about 45 km (28 mi), including the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan, as well as Johor, Malaysia.

The final capsule was installed on 2 October 2007, the wheel started rotating on 11 February 2008 and it officially opened to the public on 1 March 2008. Tickets for rides on the first 3 nights were sold out for S$8,888 (US$6,271), an auspicious number in Chinese culture. The grand opening for the Flyer was held on 15 April 2008.

Each of the 28 air-conditioned capsules is capable of holding 28 passengers, and a complete rotation of the wheel takes approximately 37 minutes. Initially rotating in a counter-clockwise direction when viewed from Marina Centre, its direction was changed on 4 August 2008 under the advice of Feng shui masters.

The Gardenia blooms a petal at a time. its breath taking to see it bloom. Its so fragrant and beautiful at the same time.

My little babies are what I call my plants. :) I believe in treating them with Tender Loving Care. Glad to know that Sulastri also share the same passion.

I do not have many. But I do treasure what little I have.

I never had green thumbs. This was the biggest mistake I made! I stupidly add fertilizer on THE LEAVES!!

Having breakfast at the Kopitiam is a rarity. The best time to watch a movie is to catch the first show .... which was what we did. So this is right before watching Tower Heist.
Thick creamy milky coffee, 2 half boiled eggs, Sekaya toast and French toast was the order of the day. After the movie we had Korean food. My apologies. I failed to take any photos.

Food and Language (Sulastri)

There are two main languages that you hear at my place - Japanese and English. It is now December and she already know a few Japanese words. I'm very impress. She is even able to greet the neighbour in Japanese.

Singapore is a cosmopolitan country. My mother is diabetic, has dementia among other complications. The food items that I do not have - Eggs, Oil, Salt. Our food are boil, grill or steam.

I am adventurous and always believe in trying things at least once. Now Sulastri is able to know the taste of milk, cheese and other foreign products. I love Japanese cuisine and now she is able to recognise some of them. She even tried to learn to eat with chopsticks!!

The cuisine that she has tried - French, Italian, Middle Eastern, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Mc Donald, Pizza Hut and a typical English Christmas menu.

Sulatri's Birthday Celebration

As a person whose first time out in a foreign land I wanted her to feel more at home. On may the 7th was my mother's birthday. I took her to watch Thor in 3D.

On May 18th 2011 we celebrated her birthday. As a gift I gave her a wallet as she has none. She always places her money everywhere. Hence, I thought the wallet was a useful gift.

Sulastri's Journey - The Beginning

Getting a live in maid was new to me. As this would be the first time I'll be sharing my space for the longest time. I had my reservations at the beginning. .... What would she be like? Could she get use to our culture and habits? Food wise .... is hse the adventurous type.

I remembered our telephone conversation. I asked if she was willing to learn new things and accept it with an open mind. She kept saying YES, Yes. At that point of time I was not sure if it was sincerity or lack of understanding.

The process itself took about a month. She finally arrived on Feb 10th. I ran down with her some basic rules and our expectation of her. It was the following day that it finally dawned on me that she understood very little English. So I told her ... ok. 2 hours daily she sits with me to study English. This consists of reading, comprehension, vocab, vocal exercises.

In the very beginning - things like do not litter. Hygiene standard is not up to par. Proper manners, etiquette, civil were not up to par. This made me more curious on how she brought up her two sons and how she ran her household.

Using proper equipment for proper purpose need to be shown (but this part I was not surprised).

She is not ambitious and have a minimal curious mind. I have to encourage her and spot check on her work. Somehow I get the feeling is that from her stand point - as long as I get the job done. Without wanting to know why or how is the best way to complete the job efficiently.

Hiring a Foreign Maid

Employing a maid in Singapore is easy and inexpensive when compared to other countries. Initially you have to evaluate your needs for either a mainly foreign full time live in maid or a locally based part time maid.

Foreign maids are hired as foreign domestic workers from Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Maids from Indonesia and Sri Lanka are paid less as they do not speak English as well as most of the Filipino maids. The monthly salary for Indonesian Maids is SGD 280 Filipinas earn between SGD 320 and 350 a month.

Foreign maids must be at least 23 years old and not older than 38 years and have to proof eight years of formal education.

They need to pass an entry test comprising multiple choice quastions in English. At times there may be a shortage of Indonesian maids.

For a full time live-in maid you should calculate around S$1000 per month plus hiring costs and airfare tickets for the bi-annual home leave and return. Postoperative Care after Hemorrhoidectomy

After surgery, the patient is taken to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU). Patients are closely monitored by the nursing staff and remain there until they are stable. The amount of time spent in the PACU depends on the patient's progress and the type of anesthesia received. General anesthesia must wear off and the patient must be awake and coherent before they leave the PACU.

Outpatients are transferred to another room to finish their recovery, and inpatients are taken to their hospital room. The intravenous line remains in until clear liquids are taken and tolerated. This can be almost immediately following surgery, especially if local anesthesia was used. Sometimes general anesthesia induces nausea, which may delay taking oral fluids. Once clear liquids are tolerated, the diet progresses to solid foods.

Spinal anesthesia usually wears off within a few hours. During the first hour following surgery, patients lie flat on their back to decrease the risk for an anesthesia-induced headache, which can be painful and prolonged. Before being discharged, the patient must regain full sensation in the lower part of the body.

Because of swelling and the dressing, some patients have temporary difficulty urinating. If there is urgency, but the urine will not flow, a catheter is used to empty the bladder. Outpatients may need to stay overnight, if they are unable to urinate. Patients must be able to urinate on their own before being discharged.

Even though the anesthesia has worn off, most patients remain groggy for the rest of the day. Patients must arrange for a family member or friend to be with them if they are being discharged the same day as the surgery.

Patients experience pain and discomfort during the immediate postoperative period (i.e., about 10 days). Pain medication is prescribed and should be taken as directed. Sometimes relief can be achieved with an over-the-counter preparation such as Tylenol®. If a pack was inserted into the rectum following surgery, the physician usually removes it in a day or two.

An ice pack can help reduce swelling. Soaking in a sitz bath (a shallow bath of warm water) several times a day helps ease the discomfort. Using a donut ring (cushion with a hole in the middle) can make sitting upright more comfortable.

It is important to avoid constipation at this time so, the physician will prescribe stool softeners and a laxative. Eating a high-fiber diet and drinking plenty of liquids also helps. A small to moderate amount of bleeding, usually when having a bowel movement, may occur for a week or two following the surgery. This is normal and should stop when the anus and rectum heal.

Complete recovery takes 6 weeks to 2 months. Most patients return to work within 10 days. Heavy lifting should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks.

First Break

4th Dec ..... Hoping and praying that all will go well today. 5th Dec I'll be having my first break - destination: Shanghai.

So sent mum to SGH in the late after for her last appointment for 2008. For some reason I could not sleep the whole night and hope to get some rest in the morning - NOT!! To add to the situation baby fell ill too.

So when I got back to SGH I went to Zan's house as I needed to returned her Japanese series ..... not sure how I got hooked onto it.

From Zan's I went back to SGH and was there like for the longest time. Everyone was worried that i might not be able to get up on time and that I myself might fall ill ...... blah blah blah. I hate my weakness!! Aaarrrrgh!!

By the time I got to LP was already about 1am and tried to catch some shut eye. I promise myself I would get some sleep when I am on the plane.

Well, besides taking care of my dad during my dad's eye operation and taking care of my mum whenever she requires me to be around.

Basically ..... weekdays I'm at my mum's and weekends with Luisi but all of you already know that.

Anyways .............. its far tooooooo long to write on the small cutie events. However, I do have photos to show for it. Its in my facebook.

I spent time at Zan's place as she introduces some Japanese culture to me. Gosh!! Now I am sooooooooooooooooo into Arashi!! Oh no Zan!! What have you done :)

I am sooooooooooooo loving it!! Other than getting into Arashi I do tutor my nephew.

Shahrazad has been coming down to see me almost everyday whenever I am at Jurong East. That's nice of her. I am glad that we are closing the gap.

To Err is Human ......

To ERR is human, To FORGIVE is divine but to forget is close to impossible.

It is because we have this memory thingie .... which I sometimes hate it. If there was a pill that when you take it will permanently erase certain parts of your memory. I'll take it.

Can we really say that its possible to picked up where we left off and forget all that had happened?? Somehow ... I doubt it. This will be and have been different for those of us that have been affected by the events.

I am so on your side honey always. Though some may disagree to forgiving criminals. They fail to see that criminals are also human. There are self help groups. Though how far that has helped many. I don't know. However, after having said that we must find the courage to first face them and help them back to that road to normality.

To those who are reading this: This is Man's sister here. Enjoy life, try your best in all that you do. If you manage to mess things up a bit, just try to do better the next time around. .....right?? Ok back to the serious writer......

Luisi, Luisi .... wise words. But its towards that journey that its hard and treacherous.

Please believe me honey that though I am on your side I also want to see the other party to change for the better and not get worse right??

The only acceptable apology is a humble apology. There is only one truth. You are always being watched.

Watching Maou .... Can't imagine how this series have affected me so much. Is revenge right?? I've learn that revenge only feeds our ego. That we didn't do anything wrong after all the other party have wronged us. Why can't we wrong them??

Even if I "COULD" revenge this person with the law on my side and all the evidence at the tip of my fingers. All I want is for him to feel the same pain as I have.

As I said many times before the only thing good that came out of that was my relationship with my baby princess.

Gosh!! I pity your life dear .... you know you can always rely on me. I thank you for your frankness and for never having to keep secrets from me. I love you so much.

I think I am weak in so many ways..... yes the series have reflected on my past and so many things else that has happened in which I can't even bring myself to ever wanting to remember them.

I hate you so very much yet I do not have the heart to destroy your life as you have destroyed mine. However, PLEASE don't take my warning toooooooooo lightly. I am capable of changing my decision.

Best Friends Forever

Hey I know we had a fall out like a million years ago and till this day I've no idea what went wrong. Not sure if you have forgiven me for my past sins. We are blood sisters and I sooooo do love you dearly.

Anyways ........... it was good to be speaking to you like a human being.

One of the worst day of my life happens to be the best day of my life. One day after my scope and was completely knocked out by the sedation. Ohno #1 is how I refer her these days. I've never seen any fan bigger than my sis. She is a number 1 Arashi fan and a bigger Ohno Satoshi fan.

She kindly picked me up from hospital and took me to her house. She cooked lunch for me and I rested at her house till night fall. While I was there I played with Shahrazad and Darian .... Gosh!! I miss them so much!!

On that day I too had a hair cut and now look almost like Shahrazad!! Whilst having a hair cut I was entertained by some Japanese program. Before going back home she loaned me a Japanese series to watch and roughly told me what it was about.

I told her ok. I'll watched it when I have the time at LP.

Space, Trust and Freedom

The three things most people want. ....

Space - the unlimited or incalculably great three-dimensional realm or expanse in which all material objects are located and all events occur. Our own personal space: if have we would treasure and if we have none we would crave for it.

A space where we can grow into it or grow with it as long as time would allow it. Deprivation of of our own space can make one feels almost like being in solitary confinement. ... ok maybe I am exaggerating just a little :)

Trust - reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence. But how can we show one that we are anyone can be trusted?? Its our very actions and our past record that will bring us credit to our present character reference.

Trust is something that you earned ... not meet and say ... "I give you trust to do as you wish. Anything happens to you - you are not my responsibility ..."

As long as one NEVER fails to tell the truth. THAN ... there won't be any secrets will there!! In life sometimes and almost all the time - mutual trust is essential. If one is forever suspicious of every single action that the other party does and every single action has to be justified. ... after awhile one will get jaded of just plain living!!

Freedom - the power to determine action without restraint. But with freedom comes responsibility. Every decision we make .. we walk through the consequences of that decision and make us the person from those very action.

Its important to have supportive people around you can trust with your life be it a family, relative or friend. I find that listening plays a vital role in our life. So people LISTEN and change your mindset or you might find that you will soon loose the person closest to you.

Please be weary of the people you are with and people you socialise. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Its been Awhile

Bailout??

Somehow, I never seem to get round to updating my blog ..... things around me seem to just tire me down. *sighs* I was busy with my sister's family moving in and toggling between taking care of my dad and my mum.

My dad is fine now and have gone back to Johor in Malaysia which is just across the causeway. I followed him there. Unfortunately my parents do not have any internet at their house so I am quite out of touch. But ..... I am now back home. I really treasure and savour my break. I can't wait for the 30th when my sister will make her final move. It has been quite a hectic month due to the fact that my sis job consits of extensive travelling and so my strength needed to be deployed.

Manage to get rid of allot of stuff either giving things away or donating them to the Salvation Army and throwing stuff away. I hope we have made enough space for her move. Even though they have the money to get a new place of their own .... its not a good time to buy property now as property market heightens. Their apartment went en-bloc hence the move over to my dad's apartment. My dad and mama is in Malaysia most of the time so instead of buying a new place they will be staying here at my dad's till the property market soften.

My dad and I have followed the journey to America Votes and following closely on the proceedings of the US economy bailout. I so love watching Anderson Cooper 360 and Larry King. As far as I am concern this bailout is ONLY good if the US government have a condition for the citizens ... I mean hey after all they are using the tax payers cash. So if they want to use the 700 billion USD of tax payers money than the Government MUST make sure that the every citizen will be made share holders of all institution that the bailout includes. They must be transparent with whom they are helping. This way it will ensure that each citizen will get their divident back when times get better. *sighs*. What a mess!! Not just blatantly tell the citizen that their capital money is "protected" .... the word protected ...... hhhhmmmm DOES not mean that they WILL gaurantee that you get your money back. If they are not transparent and still go through with the bailout and the ONLY other way to get your money back is to raise the tax :( This is soooooooooooooo not good! MORE *sighs*

They should learn their lesson from about a year ago when Northern Roc went bankrupt in Newcastle and used the tax payers money for a bailout.

Anyways ..... on the brighter side the weather is cool after the showers. But I am in doors an cuddling under the duvet with the aircon on. Hhhmmmm wish you were here next to me.

I have no plans for today. On Sat ... I'll be watching the Presidential debate, I hope to watch the movie "Ma Ma Mia" or "Mirrors" but more like the latter. i need a movie to cheer me up and I'll be tutoring my nephew too in the late morning. On Sunday my sister's family will be coming down. She was in India for work for a week and she'll be back by tomorrow.

I am so sorry for not writing to you for sooooooooooo long but allot has happen in my life. Sometimes when I log in .... but all I do is to stare at the screen not knowing what to write though I have plenty to say!! The weather has been cool with showers in the late afternoon. I am greatful for that.

1)
I normally stay with my mum .... but since my eye operation I have been staying with him and taking care of him. On the 22nd of Sept he will be able to take his stitches out. There are two stitches.

The rust that has been embedded in the right eye has been taken out and the cataract on the right eye has been taken out too. I am so happy that all went well. The left eye will KIV. Apparently it will only be corrected when he feels uncomfortable. So no rush.

Baby Princess is now staying with her dad ..... which she herself feels uncomfortable. But there is nothing I can do cause she is not related to me by blood so we only keep in touch when we have the chance to meet and via phone. The problem is there is no one there to even pay any attention to here there!! I can't believe I stayed with him for 7 long years!! Well, at least princess and me still do keep in touch with each other .......... always have!!

There have been interesting news especially with the politics in the US. I follow the convention very closely. But its just wayyyyyyy to long to discuss this matter over the email. I don't want you to be falling asleep. However, I must agree with what Sen. Joe Lieberman had to say, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2000, on Tuesday spoke up for Republican Sen. John McCain, saying the presumptive GOP nominee is capable of bringing both parties together to lead the country.

You should vote for the person that can bring America to face a bright future and not to take note of the party they are in. I think its unfair for the republicans to say that Obama takes politics first before country. What is the purpose of showing tributes of heros that have served and died for America .... have they put any thoughts in the unsung heroes?? I must admit that McCain is war hero and served his country well. But just because he is a veteran in the war does not mean he knows how to bring America into a challenging future. Yes, Obama is eloquent in his speech but I believe he is a better person than Mccain .... One simple reason .......... McCain is a HIGH risk taker. Obama treads with caution. The crowd .... the Democrat convention .... they take the cake!! Lets see on Friday when McCain meets Obama.

The Georgia crisis ........... how can the Russians blatantly say that it was orchetrated by the Americans. I was stunt to when I was watching CNN.

This week is the kids week off from school. So I took them out for the day yesterday at Fidgets and spent the afternoon there. Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, (from an OU football game), having driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back & make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned.

Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded her $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons around.

The French national holiday celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution

Bastille Day, the French national holiday, commemorates the storming of the Bastille, which took place on 14 July 1789 and marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille was a prison and a symbol of the absolute and arbitrary power of Louis the 16th's Ancient Regime. By capturing this symbol, the people signaled that the king's power was no longer absolute: power should be based on the Nation and be limited by a separation of powers.

Etymology - Bastille

Bastille is an alternate spelling of bastide: fortification.

Bastide comes from the Provençal word bastida: built.

There is also a verb embastiller: to establish troops in a prison.

Although the Bastille only held seven prisoners at the time of its capture, the storming of the prison was a symbol of liberty and the fight against oppression for all French citizens; like the Tricolore flag, it symbolized the Republic's three ideals: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity for all French citizens. It marked the end of absolute monarchy, the birth of the sovereign Nation, and, eventually, the creation of the (First) Republic, in 1792.

The French Revolution

The French Revolution had numerous causes which are greatly simplified and summarized here:

The middle class wanted the right to own land and to vote.
The lower class were hostile toward everyone and farmers were angry about tithes and feodal rights.
Some historians claim that the revolutionaries were opposed to Catholicism more than to the king or the upper classes.

Nuts have long had a bad rap for being high in fat and calories, prompting weight-conscious runners to relegate nuts to their lists of forbidden foods. But as researchers take a closer look at walnuts, almonds, and other nuts, they're discovering these delicious, crunchy foods are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. And that fat we were so wary of? Turns out it's good for our hearts — and our running.

That was the conclusion of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which released a qualified health claim in 2003 that states eating 1.5 ounces (about a handful) of nuts a day may reduce the risk of heart disease. That's because most of the fat in nuts is monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, which have been shown to lower levels of LDL (so-called "bad" cholesterol). "These fats are important for runners because they have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body," says Nancy Clark , R.D. , "and can help repair tiny muscle injuries that create inflammation."

Not just any nut will do, however. The FDA includes six nuts in its qualified health claim, but a few others didn't make the cut, including Brazils, macadamias, and cashews. These nuts have relatively high levels of saturated fat, which over time can clog arteries and lead to heart disease. It's also a good idea to steer clear of prepackaged nut mixes, which are often coated in oils and salt. Instead, buy the following types of nuts raw and toast them in the oven or on the stove top to bring out their full, rich flavor.

WALNUTS

Why: Walnuts are very rich in the plant-based omega-3 fatty acid ALA.. This type of fatty acid isn't as effective as the kind found in fish, but a recent study indicates that ALA decreases inflammation that can damage arteries and may help reduce the breakdown of bone. Studies have also shown that walnuts can increase levels of HDL (known as good cholesterol) while lowering LDL.

How: Add walnut oil to salad dressing or use crushed walnuts to make a pesto sauce. Saute chopped walnuts and mix into taco meat for added crunch.

One ounce = 14 halves 185 calories, 4 g protein, 19 g fat

ALMONDS

Why: A recent study found that the fiber in almonds actually blocks some of the nut fat from being digested and absorbed; participants also reported feeling satisfied after eating almonds, so they naturally compensated for the calories in the nuts by eating less during the day. One serving of almonds provides 35 percent of the Daily Value (DV) for vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that may help protect against diseases such as Alzheimer's.

How: Add almonds to your breakfast cereal or yogurt. Mix into chicken salad, or indulge in a few dark-chocolate-covered almonds for a double boost of antioxidants.

PEANUTS

Why: Peanuts are technically not nuts — they're legumes and belong to the same family as beans and peas. They have a low glycemic index, which means they're digested slowly and help maintain a balanced blood-sugar level. Peanuts also contain resveratrol, the same phytochemical found in red wine thought to protect against heart disease.

How: Use peanut butter as a sauce base for a Thai noodle dish. Lightly brown peanuts in a skillet and add them to a stir-fry, or chop and bake them into muffins.

One ounce = 28 nuts 166 calories, 7 g protein, 14 g fat

PISTACHIOS

Why: These tasty, little green nuts are high in lutein, an antioxidant typically found in dark leafy vegetables that's been shown to protect our eyes from macular degeneration. In one recent study, participants who ate 1.5 ounces of pistachios every day lowered their total cholesterol levels, while participants who ate three ounces a day saw an even more dramatic drop.

How: Sprinkle pistachios on shrimp or scallops (or on ice cream for dessert). Add crushed pistachios to meat loaf in place of some of the beef or bread crumbs.

One ounce = 49 pistachios 158 calories, 6 g protein, 13 g fat

PECANS

Why: A 2004 study ranked the antioxidant capacity of 100 different foods and found that pecans are one of the top 15 sources of antioxidants. In another study, pecan antioxidants were shown to prevent LDL from building up in arteries and lowered total cholesterol levels. Compared with other nuts, pecans have one of the highest levels of phytosterols, a group of plant chemicals that may help protect against cardiovascular disease.

How: Add pecans to pancake batter, or coarsely chop and toss with pasta. Mix finely chopped pecans with bread crumbs and use as a coating on any broiled fish.

One ounce = 19 halves 196 calories, 3 g protein, 20 g fat

HAZELNUTS

Why: Hazelnuts have the highest nut level of folate, a B vitamin known to reduce the risk of birth defects. Research indicates that it, along with other B vitamins, may also lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, and depression. Hazelnuts contain moderate levels of potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which can help lower blood pressure.

How: Add roasted hazelnuts to asparagus with lemon vinaigrette. They also go well with sweets, like granola yogurt parfaits.

One ounce = 21 nuts 178 calories, 4 g protein, 17 g fat

Horse walks into a bar, orders a beer, sits down at one of the tables, and starts reading his paper. The bartender is a bit shocked by all this, but pours the beer, and brings it over to the horse, who proffers a ten dollar bill for it.

Now the barman figures the horse isn't that bright, so he decides to pull the old 'short-change' trick on him. He duly goes back to the horse with 1 dollar. The horse doesn't say a word.

The horse eventually finishes his beer and goes up to the bar to order another. The bartender says to him, "Y'know, we don't get many horses in here."

Its been a long time since I've done any writing or blogging. Now that I'm really doing it .... feels strange. I was not myself the lately and I didn't feel like doing anything except just to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep the whole day and not do anything. For now anyway.

Day after day I keep hearing bad news after another.Hike in oil prices. Strike in some European countries especially fishermen due to the hike in marine oil prices and prices of seafood in their local states have gone up. Its also because of the free trade policy which makes seafood from other countries cheaper. Recession and inflation sweeping the globe. Hike in food prices too sweeping the globe.

Natural disasters .... first the cyclone in Burma, earthquake and landslide in China, tornado in the States, bomb blasts in Islamabad, plane crash in Honduras, killings in Johannesburg due to lack of tolerance for foreigners.

I'm wondering what's coming to this world!! Oh yeah, I remembered the Discovery expedition and the Japanese astronauts ..... and bring a flush part in which the pump broke. Ha ha ha.

There are people who are trying to do good though such as Tony Blair's Faith Foundation with many critics and others. The election between Clinton and Obama - sometimes I find their debate quite comical. Well, in the final analysis ... whatever the counting system of the votes maybe ... there can ONLY be ONE WINNER!! May the best "MAN" wins!

I've watched several movies (in which you can read my reviews on my facebook profile). The latest movie I watched is the "The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian". This is the first time I'm watching the Chronicles of Narnia. Pretty good I should say. Though I must admit that the moving of the trees are soooooooo LOTR!!

But the story line to bring in young Queens and Kings are rather refreshing.

Its quite good. But not worth watching a second time.

I've gone to loads of places and I've visited many countries. You can look it up in my Facebook. I love traveling. But now that I 'm not working and my finance situation does not permit me the luxury I am use to. For now ... I'm quite content. I don't go hungry and I've a roof over my head.

I love traveling and meeting new people. I have worked in England doing various odd jobs. Countries I have visited:

Far East – Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Burma and Indonesia
Middle East – Jordan and Jeddah
Other countries – Europe, Britain, Australia, United States and Canada.

Places I would like to visit. Egypt is on the top of my list. Its for the main reason that I loved Egyptian history. China, Ontario in Canada and the United States perhaps Florida, New York, Houston just to name a few.

I've no plans so far for this week .... same o same o .... read, swim, watch movies, sleep and sleep and sleep.

Yeah I know I need to WAKE UP and SMELL THE FLOWERS!!!

For now?? I guess I need to just stay in my little hole.

ANyways, Simon & I got our ticket to the UK yesterday.We leave Shanghai on Saturday 28 June at 1330 hrs and we return back to Shanghai on Sunday 09 Aug about 1800 hrs.

Back In Shanghai

Just to let you know we are back in Shanghai. Nanjing is an old city. It was the old capital before Bejing. It is about 3 hours from Shanghai. I can imagine Shanghai being like present day Nanjing about 10 years ago. Now Shanghai is too crowded.

I guess the highlight of the trip was the Nanjing Masacre Mueseum. The visit was pretty intense all the horrific details of the atrocities, the graphic and the eerieness of it all. After experiencing Japan and knowing Japaneses people in Shanghai , it is hard to imagine that they were responsible for so much horror.

We took the bullet train back to Shanghai, and that made it all better. Not many bullet trains in China yet...so this was first class for us. So that was our Easter weekend.

FYI , just to let you know that Simon & I will be in the UK for about 6 weeks starting 27 June to 11 Aug 2008.

It will be Simon's first time back in 4 years,...so a long over dued visit, seeing that we always go back to Singapore for holidays.

Anyways, we will probably be based in London where his sister is. I have contacted the Whitakers , Tricia & Emma. I will visit them, Sonal ( in London) , Beccy ( Warwickshire), perhaps swing by Leicester. We may go Manchester to see Chris and then some of Simon's friends in Leeds.

We are also trying to arrange some time in Sweden to see Fifin. So am looking forward to that. I am sure this will be my most expensive holiday to date!

Ok, thought I just let you all know our plans.

Darryl and Harold

Darryl and Harold were in a mental institution. The place had an unusual annual contest, picking two of the best patients and giving them two questions. If they got them correct, they were deemed cured and free to go.

Darryl was called into the doctor s office first and asked if he understood that he'd be free if he answered the questions correctly. Darryl said "Yes" and the doctor proceeded. "Darryl, what would happen if I poked out one of your eyes?"

Darryl said, "I'd be half blind."

"That's correct. What if I poked out both eyes?"

"I d be completely blind." The doctor stood up, shook Darryl s hand, and told him he was free to go.

On Darryl's way out, as the doctor filled out the paperwork, Darryl mentioned the exam to Harold, who was seated in the waiting room. He told him what questions were going to be asked and gave him the answers.

So Harold went into the doctor's office when he was called. The doctor went thru the formalities and then asked, "What would happen if I cut off one of your ears?" Remembering what Darryl had told him, he answered, "I'd be half blind."

The doctor looked a little puzzled, but went on. "What if I cut off the other ear?"

"I'd be completely blind," Harold answered."

"Harold, can you explain how you'd be blind?"

"My hat would fall down over my eyes."

the man said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an

DAD: 'If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about
why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this
childish behavior.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little
boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some
money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to
think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that
Rs.50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to
the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the
man.

'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you.. Here's the
Rs.50 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' He
yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry
again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up
at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father
grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?

Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with
you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he
begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We
should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some
time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

Do remember to share that Rs.100 worth of your time with someone you
love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily
replace us in a matter of days.
But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the
rest of their lives. And come to think of it, sometimes we pour ourselves more
into work than to our family.

For a week now I have been babysiting my neice and nephew. As always its been fun and enjoyable. Sara is becoming to be more creative and matured and Zack can now say few simple sentences when he wants to. hee heee. Princess is off to a chalet this week. So I hope she is enjoying herself.

I have just told my sister about you. She said after my long bad record ..... nothing that I do will ever surprise her or my dad. Bottom line - my dad is already old and has given up on me. Sad as I feel but that is true.

I think I did many things in the past that my family and I don't see eye to eye. You know the previous topic "My Family"? You know my second sister Zan totally hates me, despises me, loathe me .... whatever you want to call it. Why? I truly have no idea why this is so. Its been going on for as long as I can remember.

First being my ex, followed by African scammed, debts upon debts ..... my family keep bailing me out again and again till they get tired. A week before 2nd March ... we were moving some things trying to sve what we can. I needed some dosh. My sister Luisi said ok. But I have to go to her office. Than she said .... I need to ask Zan (my second sis) first and she will reimburse that.

Suddenly my mind started racing .... what should I do?? My first thought was to ask my dad. I know its not fair for me to ask a 75 year old man to travel all the way from Malaysia to come down to Singapore. But because I did not want to ask my sister .... I did just that.

This is just one of the many unthinkable things I did. The other is my relationship with my God daughter Ana. They somehow cannot put pass them that she is just a girl in need of friendship and some warmth and love. They connect her and her mother to my ex. Sighs.

Maybe somehow in my youth I went wrong ......... who knows. Whatever it is I am greatful for all that my family has done for me its just sad that we don't see eye to eye.

So .......... what I am going to do is just tell my dad about it.

The future is in our hands and there is only you and I.

Hug A GI Day [Mar 4]

It was a good break for me when I went to the screening about our soldiers in Iraq with Fred. It made me stop being so self-obsessed and self-absorbed. I mean, there's a war going on out there. Things are changing. We're seeing the largest voter turnout ever, the whole world is focused on the election, and here I was, stuck in my own little world. One of the guest speakers was a female GI. She talked about how the veterans need more support and infrastructure when they return home.

There are a lot of sides to this war. You can be for it, you can be against it. One thing that everyone can agree on is that our GIs are out there in the trenches. They're the ones who are paying for our freedom with their blood, sweat and tears. Whatever your perspective is, you still have to acknowledge that fact. If you have family members who are in service or are veterans, make sure you thank them for what they've done for our country. March 4th is Hug A GI Day--if you know someone personally, you can go and hug them. I'm sure they'd really appreciate it. (A lot of soldiers use our cards to stay connected with their families back home--it's one of the things that makes me proud to work for 123Greetings.)

As for me, well, I asked the female GI out for a drink after the screening. To my surprise, she agreed and we headed out to my favorite pub. Tune in next week to find out what happened!


I Want You To Be Happy Day [Mar 3] Last week, I told you about that email from Aaliyah about how she wanted to start dating again. I told her, "I really want you to be happy," in my reply email. She did her best to communicate to me after all. I should've listened better. I mean, I was in the relationship for a long time, but things just blurred into the background. I could've paid more attention and given her the support that she needed. It's not that I didn't appreciate her for being there for me. I did, but I guess I didn't show it the way she needed me to. My timing was always bad. And I probably kept disappointing her. I can see why in the end she couldn't really take me any more because I never really met her half way. I feel sorry. I really am sorry for all the pain I probably caused. Maybe I can't love her the way I've always wanted to but Aaliyah will always have that special place in my heart. I loved her the best way that I could.

I got home and Adrian, my roommate, was in character acting out scenes from his off, off, off Broadway play that'll take place somewhere in Brooklyn. I opened the door and he was literally 'caught in the act'. He maintained character and started improvising on me. I just played along since I was in a better mood after my drink with the GI. We talked about Aaliyah and the screening.

Method actors, I tell ya, they eat, sleep and drink the character that they're in! Then, Adrian broke character and became Adrian again when I mentioned the GI that I had met. "Whaaaa?" he said. "Oh, are you Adrian now? What happened to that other guy?" "Forget the other guy--you can meet him when you see him at the theater. Tell me more about this GI of yours." I started laughing. I told him that he needs to concentrate on sharpening his acting skills before the big opening. I told him he'll read about it just like everyone else next week. Hey, it's only fair right?

I would wish Adrian a "Good Luck" but he's an actor, and they're very superstitious about this stuff--especially my man Adrian. So Adrian, break a leg!

Say Hi To Mom Day [Mar 5]

The next morning, Mrs. Bradley came by to invite me to the Baptism of her grandchild. She told me how lucky she is to have a family that cares for her and keeps in touch with her. It's true, a lot of older folks are home alone and their children are busy with their own kids. "It's so good having you around, Bob," she said, "It makes all the difference. You know, you're very much a part of my family. That's why I wanted you to be there when we christen little Andrew." I was really touched. It lifted my spirits, too--I never really thought I was important enough to be invited to a close family gathering. "Of course I'll come, Mrs. Bradley. This means a lot to me too, ya know? I'm just glad I can be counted on."

When she left, I picked up the phone and called my mom. For some reason, whatever Mrs. Bradley said reminded me of my parents, especially my mom. I know she can take care of herself, she's a headstrong lady, but I haven't spoken to her in a long time. She's probably worried about me too since I haven't really talked to her about my break up with Aaliyah. So I called my mom up just to say "Hi" and see how she was doing. We talked for a while, and it cheered me up a lot. I love how positive and encouraging my mom is. She always warms my heart whenever I hear her. It never ceases to amaze me how she handled all of us in the family with grace, love, and warmth. To me all mothers are super.

Talk about super moms, International Women's Day is next week! Donna invited me to the commemoration happening at the UN. I have to run now so I'll write more about it next week. Before leaving though, I want to share something with you. This week's Zen quote comes from an old proverb you might already be familiar with. It says, "God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers." I'm glad my mom's there and that she's just a call away.

Rightful Place

Today before I left for LP I wanted to bring mum along. So I smsed my dad asking his permission. After all it is his house. Her Luisi, I am not that unthinkable ok. I know I've been nick named Airhead for a reason. But I do know my place. Dad said no. So its a no go. He thought is would not be appropriate since he has remarried and if something should happen the blame would fall on him.

I bought our gossip paper the New Paper and went over to LP. Made my usual coffee, changed into my shorts and settle down to read my email and watched re runs of CSI NY.

One of my Egyptian friend send me some photos of Horses and that brought me back to memories of a Big Book I wrote in 2003. Ya. maybe one day I'll put it up on my blog ya.

Nothing doing since all my laundry was done yesterday. Its a hot day today and I am perspiring like a stuck pig.

Well, its 19:12hrs now and should be getting back to JE but I would be back at LP tomorrow at 15:00 or 14:00hrs. .... depends on me I guess.

So my Darling Princess ......... I hope all is well with you and that you manage to sit down with Mama. You have BIG things going on dear. Focus k and don't let it erupt what you have in your hands.

Horses

I don't own horses nor ever lived near any. But nevertheless, horses are one of God's creation that I have long admired. I have no idea why I have this fascination on horses.

I wrote a big book in 2003 called That Distant Land its about a horse's journey from Spain to Dover. Describing roads and sceneries. ... Well ... maybe one day ... I put it up on my blog.

My friend Alaa from Egypt sent me some pictures of horses. Alaa is one fantastic photographer who takes wonderful and fantastic pictures which never fail to touch my heart. Here are some.

Shelter Over My Head

I am soooooooo jaded by all of these I soooooo want it to end like it was yesterday!! I can't take this anymore! But I have to wait ... and tell myself to be patient.

Well, so far it has not happened yet. According to them they have pulled back the seizure order. We are just preparing for the worst.

We saved Wati's bed, your chest of drawers, the washing machine and dryer, the Chinese trunk and the semi-circle glass table. Sad to say not all can be brought over to LP.... like the sofa set.

The TV and DVD player is at Zan's. Mum and I occupied ourselves with jokes. Ha ha and and frequent stuff like without me kinda thingies. There is a radio which is constantly on Class 95. Mum lay on the bed most of the time and refuse to budge despite of everything that I have tried. But she does make an effort and try to sit outside with me at times. Mum just cooked for herself whilst I can last on peanut butter sandwich.

I read my Anne Rice book or played Tetris on my handphone.

Now the place looked more like a house!! The sofa is outside. The bed is in the bedroom shifted by Mida and I am sleeping with Mida in Mida's room on the bed that use to occupy the sofa set.

My things been turned over .... and all hell broke loose.

Lp's cable and max on-line have been transfered to dad's name this past Sat. Courtesy of of Mama who drove all of us to VivoCity.

Last year there was a time where I was not easily contacted. Nevertheless, I still contacted mum with when I can. Mum found it irritated. So she said she wanted to get me a line. I told her not to cause I can use a phone card and was not thinking of a pre paid card at that time. I said ok. i paid for it till I could not afford to anymore and told mum about it.

So now I am the criminal that made mum signed something that was in her name. She keep telling me .... situ anak sini pun anak. My money I can do what I like. Despite of the fact that I told her million of times that this would happen and it did! I told her see ... what if you told them you buy me stuff ........ wait they think I ask mum to buy. I always know about the stuff like after the fact when she has gone out with friends or Mida.

So the joke at JE is a Criminal is Lodging here! Ha ha. I told her don't worry I won't kill myself as its not a good time, I wait for this to be over. Ha ha, don't worry I ain't gonna do it.

My things are mysteriously missing - my handphone ear piece, my pre paid card unused, some money which was not mine (I sealed it in an envelope so I know I won't spent it) .... good thing my friend is understanding and I told her I lost it.

I will be at Luisi's with mum from next week Mon till fri .... its the 3rd march if I am not wrong.

So now ........... who in the right mind wants anything to do with a criminal :) ??

Anywaysssssssss that's all for now k.

I know I did allot of wrongful things in my life but I have learnt since then. I would never duped my own mother or to anyone I care allot.

My surrogate family affair also was being raised. But I was just let then go on ........ Everyone is getting the wrong picture. One they say I have been treated like a maid just cause I am taking care of Ana. i just someone who she talks closely too ... and so what if she has parents. does it really matter??

Ramlah the mother - ok ... so she needs company every so often. She just doesn't like to be alone. Other than that whatever little she has she also shares it with me. I mean she knows I am not working and have no money. Sometimes I even get hand out from her.

So my life with them is sooooo separated from mine.

Since this whole thing ......... word have been going around that I am at Dad's at Mum's because of food and shelter. Its like WOW!! Can't I be here just to be here?? If I am here it seems wrong. If I am its also wrong?? *sighs* So they mean that I have no food and not well sheltered when I am at BR?? Ok ... the place maybe small. But there is always room for me. They may not be able to help me financially but a roof over my head ... we have been sharing every now and again. They may not be rich but they share what little they have plus handouts too.

Just because my ex is a jerk that does not mean the daughter and his ex wife are? Anywayyyyyyyyyyyssssss whatever ........... right now, I am with mum and do our washing at LP rather than doing it at Zan's.. I feel so uncomfortable about that. She hates me, loathe me, despise me. God only knows!

During the shifting I called dad to be in SG why?? Just cause I could not or rather would not ask Zan for some dosh. Luisi went ballistic on me - but I don't blame her. Dad is old and I wasn't thinking about that at all I was just thinking ........ gosh!! Zan stormed out of JE just minutes earlier. For me to go ask her for money - well ...
