Home Remedies

Home Remedies:

 1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto! The blockage will be almost instantly removed.

 2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.

 3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink.

 4. High blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for awhile, thus reducing the pressure in your veins..

 5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep when you hit the snooze button.

 6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.

 7. Have a bad tooth ache? Hit your thumb with a hammer, then you will forget about the tooth ache..

 AND..... Sometimes we just need to remember what The Rules of Life really are:  You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't,  use the duct tape.

 And finally... Be really good to your family and friends.  You never know when you are going to need them to empty your bedpan

Eight of Swords

The Eight of Swords card suggests that my power today lies in denial or blocking. 'Don't even go there.' I will not let myself be limited, paralyzed, held hostage or alienated by fear or fantasy that relies on exploitive emotional rescue, sacrifice of truth, or victimization.

I will not be a prisoner to my own perceptions or expectations. Why did Cinderella stay? Do I want to be right or alone? Why have I placed a mental gag order on my own suffering or thinking?

I am empowered to question or endure by virtue of my own self-worth because there is no honor in sacrificing my self to victimhood.

Merry Christmas

Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I am aware that for some it may be a blue Christmas due to some circumstances but nevertheless we need to keep our chin up and count our blessings.

I strongly believe in Karma and that What come Around goes around.  Its hard not to think of revenge to those that have wronged us in the past ... REVENGE is something that we should not harbour in our hearts.  Let us all pray for strength to overcome "bad" feelings or emotions.

Merry Christmas to the ONES I love,
Even on this day of love for all,
Remembering the love of one whose call
Redeemed all those whose hearts his love might move.
Yet only one love does my spirit prove,

Chosen in a passion like a squall,
Having in such ecstasy withal
Rejoiced in what we were created of.
In such love do we find our way outdoors,
So to be drawn to love of flesh and soul,
Traveling beyond our village green,
Moving towards the wash along our shores
As our love joins the greater love unseen,
Shining with dark passion on the whole.

Breather from Home

Princess spent few days at JE with my own plans filling my days. She had to fend for her self most of the time. Spending time with friends and taking it in a day at a time. Spent and chatted what time she has with my mum. Quite cute actually :)

She slept outside using my bed whilst I slept with Mida. It was ok since I've slept with her before .... she doesn't snore!! Hee hee.

Before this event Chomelanggun and partner have visited my mum and are comfortable with her company. So is everyone who visits my mum .... as long as one do not cross her "mad" path.

Days wore on ... impatience grew on both sides. Talked, disucssion, meetings and what have you .... final analysis .... well, situation - status quo.

*sighs* will it end?? I'm sure. Just the unknown duration.

Teenager's Escape

What do one do when one needs a breather??  Where can one escapes?? .... and too  who??  Friends??

Well, whoever and where ever they can find comfort.  But how do one break it slowly and kindly to one's parents if the problem lies in the parents - child relationship.  Which parent want to loose a child??  What can be done??

I have been there and seen and known toooooooooooo many of these problems circulating.  When a child is lack of space and parents lack understanding ..... what will the final result be??  Teenage angst and rebellion??  This most often than not harsh words being thrown back and forth ....

"No respect" parents accuse.  "So rude."  is the other comment.
"I'm her parents.  Not a friend."  continued in rage.  "Why can't she see that!!  She must think."  lashed out in fury.

"Haven't I followed everything you tell me to do?"  retort softly from a teenager.  "Why don't you trust me??  I tell you my whereabout and whom I'm with." came another reply. "Please respect my space and time."  Came a silent plea.

So who normally gets the blame .... Parents blame the in betweens  - friends, nannies, guardians and whoever else they can think of.  In actual fact - is there someone really at fault here??  Or is because we FAIL TO LISTEN.  We hear the children banter on their problems which soon became and STILL IS BECOMING the parents problems.  Yup, I think its the LISTENING and the lack of UNDERSTANDING.

Parents lash back - a teenager should never have privacy as its a privilage.  Its NOT optional.

HOw can we solve these soooooooooo common woes from teenagers??  BUT THE MOST important thing is .... will my parents listen and try to understnad.  Are both sides Parents and Child - willing to compromise.  Will and CAN both sides accept reallity and facts?

My opinion as a Guardian and Godmother and Teacher and Aunty:

Respect is something one earns and not because of rank. ...."I will respect you because of your rank.  But I don't have to be sincere about it."  heard this before??  A cliche reply??

So how do we EARN their respect??
Listen to their needs.  They have voices that need to be heard.

>>  Parents should practice what they preach.  Trust them and give them space of time that they need.

"Hi sweetie, how was your day?" asked a parent.  "Oh, we did  ........... and we had ........ " came the reply.  Only such a frank and candid reply would come from a child who trusts the parents will shoulder the child's feelings and not get an "I told you so" kind of retort.  ONLY WILL THE CHILD OPEN UP.
Actually that goes for me too when I was a teeager.

The need to know and spy on the child is unnecessary when the child automatically opens up.  Otherwise a mono syllable reply is what one will get more then often.

Conclusion: TRUST!!!!  LISTEN!!!! so parents (that includes me) or people in general CHANGE is not always bad.  Being a FRIEND to a child is NOT wrong.

Before the end .... one will gain respect and respect will be earned.  Secrets will be shared - no spying needed this will come trust.

Birthday Celeb

It was all too soon before my birthday finally arrived.  It was uneventful.  Though my Happy and merry wishes poured in from all corners of the globe.  I thank you all for remembering this day.

As for me?? ..... I was busy with Darian and ACE @ Work.  The place I use to work as a Child Care teacher for seven years ..... once upon a time  :)

I went back to LP to get my black gown JUST IN CASE I can't fit into my River Island "nicey".  Ha ha was soooooooo happy that I still could!!

All the "hellos" and the "long time no see" and the huggings. .......... Gosh!!  It was soooooooo good to see you people once more.  I'm so happy that I could catch up with you guys for the short hours that I was there.  Thanks for contributing to my blog.  Very interesting articles.  Pictures and snap shots was taken (wich I will publish when time permits).

Routine never forgotten though its been a long time since I've been a Child Care Teacher .... but once a teacher .... always a teacher!!

I went to my old class and was welcomed with children that recognised me.  They have certainly grown that I could not recognise them with first glance!!  Since I have not changed in my looks they could recognise me with ease and that children have a memory of an elephant!!

I helped them in the make-up.  When it was time we all piled in the bus that awaits us.  Due to lack of space the teachers had to stand.  Met zan and her family there.  We went to our holding room ... which was on the 5th floor.  The lift transports us up there in batches since it could only hold so many people.

I went down to join the rest .... since I'm supposedly to be a guest.  I enjoyed the show tremendously.  Shahrazad met all her old friends whose brother or sister was involve in the concert.  Once over I went back with them via MRT.  It was a long day for me and my phone was off or was in silent mode most of the time. ................

LP Occupied

Zan's in-laws came and occupied LP for the month.  Flashbacks of D Court went through my mind ..... taking turns at PC, sharing the Kingsize bed with the two youn uns .... Thank God my dad's bed is huge!!

Zan did all the entertaining as usual ... I basically stayed out of her affairs.  I was at JE or JB or BR. Ha ha ha choice a plenty.

But I did make a courtesy call and mama and dad and Luisi's family too spent the day at LP.  It was fun.  The dinning table filled till we had to look for extra chairs.  Something that mama had to get use too ... with the kids joining the table (as that was not a custom at her place)

The hours lingered on.  Laughters and gossips and merry sounds from the hustle bustle of the children filled the air .... was the order of the day.  I absorbed the senses that filled the air ... How I missed that feeling.  Well, Zan ... can't our relationship change??  What went wrong??  Sadden by this fact always forever harbouring in my hearts of hearts.

WHATEVER!!  I suppose sibling rivalry will still stay for some. ....

Many more happier tomorrows.

Village Wedding Holiday - 30/11/07 till 02/12/07 (Videos)

Village Wedding Holiday - 30/11/07 till 02/12/07 (pictures)

Village Wedding Holiday - 30/11/07 till 02/12/07

It was a Thursday and I was from my mum's house. I packed what I needed and left for BR. Once there ..... I repacked everything in a knapsack as it was always my style - either alone or with the Princess. So I used the pack that I have been using for the past three years on every chalet occasion with the Princess.

We would always have our clothes packed together. The Princess was out with Hottie so i just put aside what I needed and waited till she got back. Hottie sent her home lingered awhile till it was almost before the last transport depart.

As always .... Chomelanggun fuss about which appropriate clothes to bring for the Princess and myself. She packed which is not the way that I would pack. Words were exchanged.

Chomelanggun - all Princess's clothes at the bottom whilst mine was at the top of the pack.
MY way - I would packed them according to the occasion and day. This way both would be even. If its for the latter than to get to the Princess's items .... ALL of my stuff got to be taken out.

So I repacked them the way I always do for the two of us. Toiletaries, medication, charges and other odds and ends. So Princess had a free had ... almost. Till we got to Larkin the first pit stop before continueing to Asahan, Malacca. Chomelanggun bought snacks like there was no tomorrow!!

We had to wait for two hours at Larkin as the next available bus was at about 16:30hrs!! We had lunch at Mc Donalds and was comparing prices. Notice that prices there were higher than back home. This would only mean that people who eat at Mc Donalds are people are with above average income!!

The NO SMOKING signs were totally ignored!! People still smoke ANYWHERE!! So I just followed suit. I guess when in Rome .... do what the Romans do.

Once back on the bus we each occupied our time listening to music, or .... watching LOTR from my phone video. I guess Chomelanggun took in what scenery she could captured and soon fell off too sleep as did the Princess and me.

By the time we got to our destination Chomelanggun tried calling her bro that was going to pick us up. So we hung around at a stall and had something to drink. It was not long before one of her relatives came to pick us up. It was close to an hour before we reach our final destination.

We all said our "Hellos", they introduce me to them ..... in which I cannot remember half their names!! But it doesn't quite matter. MOst of them know me as the famous "Nariman" that could not speak much Malay. Ha ha. Ok, I'm improving in that area!!

The Princess and I showered as well as escaping to have a puff. There wasn't much that we could help so I just took in the sights and smell of the whole hustle and bustle .... night before the wedding.

Relatives that came to help slept anywhere and everywhere they could find a place. Princess and I slept in the room she use to occupy with her cuz Wani ..... once upon a time. We used a duve to sleep on the floor. I was thankful that the house had plenty pillows. Once the two of us found a comfortable sport .... we laid our heads and soon fell asleep on the hard floor.

The wedding went well enough and soon it was all over even before 16:00hrs!! Wow!! Its soooooooo unlike back home. The time crawled it was like taking forever just for the hand to move to the next minute!! All our pre paid cards for our phones were ALL GONE, even after the second topped up!! *Sigh*

After the wedding Chomellanggun showed me around the village and went to one of her other relative's house. Its a real attap house and most of it are all still wooden. It brought back memories of when I was a child and spending my school holidays at Pasir Panjang ... where my great grandmother use to live. It was a great experience.

The morning after ......... missed the morning train. ALL train tickets were sold out and so were the bus tickets. Her bro called up the bus station and reserved three tickets and he drove like even lives didn't matter that much. That was how fast he drove!! But he was an expert.

Got to the bus station just in the nick of time!! Wow!!

So we all manage to go home as planned! The minute I got back settled all our clothings and went straight back to my mum's.

The Moon

The Moon card suggests that my alter ego is the Magnetic One, whose superpower lies in my innate ability for reflection, and that of turning the tide.

Today I feel like a natural woman. I am a goddess that reflects the mystique and magnetism of women, rising above all boundaries. 'This too shall pass.' Shining brightly, I will overcome empty promises in the dark and dangerous liaisons.

Enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the drama when your forces of attraction are at their strongest.

Life Paints a Picture

All toooo soon. I am missing people I use to be with. Hating myself. Thinking why?? Why can I NEVER think or take heed to warnings...... I think I know that answer .... Its because I love my now, my present moment. For that what the future of REALITY might hold got lost in thought of fantasy.

For now a mask I will wear and show for that is what that is to be expected of me.

Missing the Princess that she once was. I guess life itself has taken toll on all of us. I think the key here is to adapt to the changes and be happy for the littlest things in life. Sometimes ... I just want to get lost in the forest and stay a hermit. Hhhhhmmm sounds good.

Everyone's life is a picture,
Painted by only one person,

Life itself.
The picture shows everything you're doing,

And everything you have done.
But sometimes, Life gets tired.

And doesn't want to paint a picture.
So, Life sends problems to stop you,

If you give up, your picture is finished.
If you keep going, so does your picture.

So the question is:
How soon do you want to see your picture?

Do you want to see it now?
When it could be so much more?

Or later, when there's so much more than before?
It's your choice,

I'll keep going.

My Mask

I hide behind a mask
You can't see my face
Looking at first glance
I'm in a happy place
The truth is, that's a lie
But you can't really tell
that in the back of my mind
I think the world should rot in hell
What's the point of living
If we are all going to die
What's the point of being happy
If in the end we're going to cry
But this is something no one sees
This is something no one knows
And yet deep inside of me
This feeling of hatred grows
So even though this mask reveals a happy side of me,
I use the mask as a shield to look at what others can never see.

What LOVE Means

WHAT LOVE MEANS
TO AGE 4 TO 8 YEAR OLD CHILDREN

Touching words from the mouth of babes. What does Love mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet) .... this is my fave. We all have jealousy and common and normal hatred growing in us. So much so woe loose track of the main reasons. In the end - we just hate ourselves. And the big question of "WHY?", "WHY?", "WHY?", why must such things happen to me?? And the answer just get thrown back straight at me.
Yup, we should have more Nikka in this world ..... it would be peaceful!!
'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca- age 8
'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4
'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'
Karl - age 5
'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6
'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4
'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 7
'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss'
Emily - age 8
'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.'
Noelle - age 7
'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6
'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.
He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8
'My mommy loves me more than anybody, You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'
Clare - age 6
'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine-age 5
'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'
Chris - age 7
'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day'
Mary Ann - age 4
'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lauren - age 4
'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)
Karen - age 7
'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'
Mark - age 6
'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'
Jessica - age 8
And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
'Nothing, I just helped him cry'
Bless all of my friends in whatever it is you may be needing this day! And may your lives be full of peace, prosperity, and most of all LOVE.
The World Never Forgets
It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible photographs to be taken and for the German people from the surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead. He did this he said, in words to this effect; "Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some ******* will get up and say that this never happened.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Edmund Burke IN MEMORIAL This week, the UK removed the Holocaust from it's school curriculum because it "offended" the Muslim population because they say it never occurred. This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easy each country is giving into it.
It is now more than 60 years since the 2nd. World War in Europe ended.
Six of Chalices
Today's Card
The Six of Chalices card suggests that my power today lies in self-consciousness. I am not alone.
It's not too late to make a fresh start or to pursue my hearts desire. The fountain of my youth or my Holy Grail is revealed in the simple pleasures and gestures that are unaware of their own beauty, connection, and power.
I am empowered by nostalgia or past perceptions and my gift is rejuvenation.
The 4 DON'Ts When Sleeping
A man can go two weeks without eating. But if he
doesn't rest at all, he can only survive for one week.
Sleeping provides us the time to rest our
internal organs, eyes and brains. Poor sleep
quality can cause internal damage to our internal
organs and brains.
Therefore, sleeping is very important to us.
If you wish to have a long life
and stay healthy, please
take note of the advice below.
4 DON'TS when you are sleeping...
DON'T SLEEP WITH WATCH
Watches can emit a certain level of radioactivity.
Though small, but if you wear your watch to bed
for a long time, it might have adverse effects on your health.
DON'T SLEEP WITH BRA
Scientists in America have discovered those that
wear bras for more than 12
hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer.
So go to bed without it.
DON'T SLEEP WITH PHONE
Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near
you is not encouraged.
Though some of us will use phones as alarm clocks,
but please put the phone
as far as possible. Scientists have proved that
electrical items including
mobile phone and television sets emit magnetic waves
when used. These waves
can cause disruptions to our nervous system.
Therefore if you need to put
your mobile phone near you, switch it off first.
DON'T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP
People who sleep with make up might have skin
problems in the long run.
Sleeping with make up will cause the skin to have
difficulty in breathing
and problem in perspiring You will also need a much
longer time to go into deep sleep.
R and R at Mama's - 22/11/07 till 25/11/07
Since its been awhile that I've not gone to Mama's house. I thought I'd make it an effort this time to go. So I left on Fri and came back on Sun.
Wow!! It a REAL ..... REST and RELLLLLLLAAAAXXXXX all I did was to catch up on my sleep, sleep and more sleep! Offcourse I also veg infront of the telly.
We had breakfast together catch up on all the old and new news. It felt great to just bond.
I slept in the room downstairs as always, whereby the bathroom and kitchen is a stone's throw. Ha ha. But that helps though. Since my handphone was down that just means no communication!! Well, I just don't want to impose on my dad and mama. The good thing about no communication is that you don't have to think much. Nothing matters. ...
So Sunday came too soon. But a short rest was all I needed. It really felt great.
Mama took me back to LP and I stayed up watching CSI, CSI and CSI by the late night .... I went back to BR.
Oh, how I miss my princess.
Severely Stricken by Grief
Few adults ever listen to what their children have to say UNTILL its too late. Why?? Why is it soooooooo hard?? I don't get it??
You are my child so YOU MUST RESPECT ME!!
Child's reply (only under their breath) would be .... I WILL respect you because you tell me. But I'm not sincere because you MAKE ME like this ...... or something to that effect.
Sometimes the adults just hear but fail to listen and this brings about the lack of understanding their child. How can a child make the parents see their point of view?? When??
When they start disappearing?? When they start talking??
But have we ever asked ourselves why and look at our own actions?? Maybe its us and not THEM the children.
Respect is something one earns and not just being dished out because one has the rank to do so.
THAT IS THE WORSE KIND OF ALL THE BS THERE IS!!
Oh I so feel pity for you. I cry sometimes looking at the situation that you are in. You have a house but you do not have a home. That doesn't sound right. A home is your sanctuary, your paradise.
If one cannot see your view .......... how can you ever show them or make them understand??
How long can one be patient?? Everything has limits. Like a volcano about to erupt. It can only take a certain pressure. Courage you need. Courage you will have when the time approaches.
Remember dear, FEAR can ONLY keep you a prisoner. Hope can set you free. But to have hope is to find Courage.
Sometime to make a person see things YOU NEED TO BREAK THE FIRST RULE. As a last resort ONLY when one fails to listen to you. I feel sad and miserable and NO ONE can do anything if YOU don't do anything. We can only just observe and give our shoulder to cry on :((
Courage my dear .... courage. ok. Rest assured there are people around that love you and want to see the old bubbly you appear. Take care ok and remember that I'll always be here whenever you need. Though I sometimes may not be able to be physically there. .... oh well ... you know what I mean.
Love ya always.
Night Out with Princess
For the week that our "Ms Roberts" and her beau was not around .... we had a little bit more of peace than the usual ruckus when both were around.
One night when Hottie ain't around or rather could not make it. We played X-box. Dearest Princess had to show me all the moves. Ha ha, what else is new?? Showered and washed up and we had a late dinner. Reminisce the past and the good old days at Woodies. We were in casual shorts and t-shirts.
After dinner princess was talking about the placess she recced in the vicinity with Hottie and wanted to show it to me. Wow!! I went wild and was delighted since its been quite awhile that I've gone out with Princess. Ok so its not a "proper" outing ..... but half a loaf is better than none.
We went walked and walked to even places I never knew existed!! Actually we were searching for a place with "fairy lights", where one can sit and just enjoy the ambience. Sadly we could not find the place .... don't exactly know why. Perhaps we got lost or missed a turn or something.
Neither of us could believe the distance we walked in OUR CASUALS AT THAT!!
Oh well, it was a good day in all. We slept late after watching reruns of Lord of the Rings. I can never get sick of ever watching that!
We both prayed for more brighter tomorrows.....
Night Market Outing
One day in October if my memory serves me right .....
Waited for Luisi and the kids at mum's house. As the kids were promised rides on carousel and toy trains and such. So THEY are the ones that were looking forward to it more than US adults who were just looking forward to the array of food and snacks that they have.
Zan had a go at me for buying the kids some drinks. Hey gal, that was not necessary .... at least not in public anyways!! I may not have money to spend a whole lot but .... one or two bucks for drinks .... I think I can spare that.
We got loads of food. The kids enjoyed themselves tremendously as I video taped their funny acions and candid shots. (its on my imeem.com site)
As usual the spread of food did whet our appetite. But since it was impossible to get EVERY SINGLE one of them. We had to pick and choose. By the time e got home .... we dug in with what food we had while the kids played to their heart's content. Till one of them wail as it always happen when there is too much laughter.
Once the kids showered they each went home to their humble abode. Darian slept over at mum's with me. It was fun playing with the kids. I was missing that a great deal.
Time Passes By
I know I've promised to update ..... BUT :) .......... as days passes me by the dates and time have forgotten and only the memorable events stay on my mind. So do forgive me if the tales are not in order.
Those who are present would know when ....... and yet you are the SAME very ones that asked me for updates ..... apa lah u! :)
That was meant as a pun ok.
After the Main Event
Trying our best to take photos of Sara with the backdrop ain't easy what with all the people doing the same and collecting their children and what have you.
We manage to take some pictures at the cost of my specs glasses falling out from its frame.
Luisi wanted to have some up market local food when Sara said ..... I want Pizza. So since IT WAS after all her day .... it was her choice. So we ended up going to Prego.
Graduation Day
I did not have to worry about clothes as usual ..... Chomelanggun whipped out her magic. This means that I just have more time to sleep in.
We met at Starbuck's near @ Raffles City at 9am. I was early!! I was not even aware that Beach Road was so nearby. Dad strolled in few minutes after me. Since the concert started at 11am. We took our time over coffee and gossiping of my other life. My other life is now no longer a secret and am willing to share THAT part of it. My family is more receptive to it now. Thank you.
When its about time we went in .... so just we could see the slides of the school activities.
In the aisle eagerly waiting for her name to be called.
Graduation speech in Mandarin by Sara and her friends.
Her first performance Rainbow Fish. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recalling the story from the play acted by Su Ping. Obviously it was more joy just to see Sara playing the part. :)
The second performance done by Sara was in Mandarin - Butterflies and Flowers.
This is the finale where the children come out class by class.
Lagos, Nigeria
Lagos is the most populous city in Nigeria, the largest country in Africa. The metropolitan area, an estimated 300 square kilometers, is a group of islands endowed with creeks and a lagoon. Lagos is projected to be one of the world's five largest cities by 2005.
In an effort to reduce massive urbanization in the metropolitan area, the Federal Government is in the process of moving the capital to Abuja.
The original settlers of Lagos, or Eko as it is called by the indigenous population, were of Benin and Awori Eko heritage. The city began in the fifteenth century as a Portuguese trading post exporting ivory, peppers, and slaves. It subsequently fell into the hands of the British, who began exporting food crops after outlawing slavery in 1807. Although Nigeria gained independence in 1960, a two-and-a-half year civil war broke out in 1967.
After the war, migration to the city, coupled with huge waves of refugees and migrants from other African countries, produced a population boom that has continued to the present day.
Lagos is the commercial and industrial hub of Nigeria, with a GNP triple that of any other West African country. Lagos has greatly benefited from Nigeria's natural resources in oil, natural gas, coal, fuel wood and water. Light industry was prevalent in post-independence Nigeria and petroleum-related industry dominated in the 1970's, directly affecting the rapid growth of Lagos.
Oil production, which began in the 1950's, increased seven-fold between 1965 and 1973, while world oil prices skyrocketed. By 1978, the metropolitan area accounted for 40% of the external trade of Nigeria, containing 40% of the national skilled population. The world recession in 1981, which caused a sharp fall in oil prices, sent Lagos reeling into debt and runaway inflation that persist at present. As a result, a massive programme of infrastructure and social services expansion came to an abrupt halt.
Energy and water access, sewerage, transportation and housing have all been adversely affected by haphazard development of a geographically disjointed city. Unlike the rest of Nigeria, 90% of the population of Lagos have access to electricity, with the city consuming 45% of the energy of the country. Despite the region's endowment of water, the city suffers from an acute and worsening water supply shortage. And due to inadequate sewerage, much the city's human waste is disposed of by the drainage of rainwater through open ditches that discharge onto the tidal flats. With congested bridges, traffic congestion is a daily problem in Lagos: it takes an average of two to three hours to travel 10-20 kilometres. A high-speed, elevated metro-liner is in the planning stages.
Since 1985, state urban renewal plans have concentrated on upgrading the environment of slum communities by building roads and drainage channels and providing water supply, electricity, schools and health clinics. With cooperation from the citizens, success has been recorded in a number of pilot urban renewal schemes, which focus on building roads and drainage channels and providing water supply, electricity, schools and health clinics.
Sara's Concert
Just got a call from Luisi ..... Rob has an urgent appointment. Yahoo!! Meaning ..... meaning there's an extra ticket AND I AM IT!!
Problem is tomorrow at the crack of dawn - I have to head for JE cause that where all my nice clothes are!! Oh well, its worth it.
Ghetto Life
So Jazzmann have already taken his desktop away manage to catch up with his princess and reminiscing the past of old picts. I am happy for that.
Thank you all for your encouragement and your opinions. I do appreciate that. Yup, yup, I am only as strong as my last fall.
The new proud owners have already taken over Woodies.
Thinking that someone will be at BR I went there only to find out that they were still at Woodies. But I didn't mind. It gave me a chance to really observe what life is really like at BR.
I looked around at the WELL littered place. It almost seem like I'm on another planet. But I am kinda getting used to it. People making the best of what they have. The way they do it .... make me appreciate the things I have in life. A child bouncing up and down on a tree branch pretending that its a see-saw.
Two teams sharing HALF a Basketball court!! Some in proper trainers, flip-flops and even bare FEET!!
I was downing on my milk when Z caught up with me. We both waited for a little bit till Chomelanggun and Princess came back.
Princess's eyes look red and sore. Anyways .... neither of us could sleep last night. So we listen to some music on the radio and watched a Thai horror "Ghost Game". Which we both have watched it before but love the suspence. Princess knocked out first. I must have slept about 5 or 6am.
By the next morning ........ I was so dazed by the morning sound and and the welcoming smell from the kitchen.
One thing led to another brunch chat turned to a life story tale. Though I have nothing to be upset about. After all its my actions that put me where I am now. Looking around this place .... suddenly I notice that there is absolutely no space for anything I got before.
Anyways, its not important. If there's no space means there's no space. That is that.
I soooooo want a new life.
Wishing for more brighter tomorrows :)
Emperor Card by Audrey
Today's Card
The Emperor card affirms that my alter ego today is elevated as a role model or by proxy as the Enforcer, whose superpower is contracted to establish merciful boundaries or to secure and defend the vested interests of my charges under or as this virile "Father Figure." I'm large and in charge as master of my domain -- as long as you say so or so long as I command the authority and protect the realm.
I take pride in directing the action, building a safe environment or molding my vision, and conquering resistance through permissible limits. It would be my honorable duty to stand up today as leader in support of those whose loyalty I vitally depend on to give me relevant meaning, fortitude or practical production for use. I won't let them down.
Keep to the bargain but leave room for improvement, or risk becoming possessive, oppressive or disconnected by choice and cast out of the castle.
Treasure for Batgal
So now there are only my things that are left at Woodies. I need
ended up staying the night there but I promised my mum that I'll be
I took a bath. So since I'm in the bath I actually wanted to turn the
Jacuzzi on but Darian didn't like that. So .... :( my bath ended up
with playing with Darian and his floating toys. Oh well, that's
enjoyable too.
Today, I got a wake up call from Darian pinching my cheeks. Wakey,
wakey, its morning already. His good, kind sister got his and her
brakfast. Which I am ever so greatful.
Hit off to JE got my mum ready run some errands with her did some
I wish the Princess Good Luck for her exam. She ain't feeling too
good. Wishing she'll get better soon.
To All My Hindu Friends
Wishing you all and your family best wishes and my best regards.
May you be showered with all the blessings that you deserve.
Best Celebration ......
!st thought ...... what it is. My version from Mal
Diwali, the Hindu "festival of lights," is the best known of Hindu festivals and certainly the brightest and charming. Amid the dark skies of autumn, lights illumine homes throughout India and its Diaspora, while families celebrate with visits, gifts, and feasts. The five day long festival starts in the 14th day of the dark half of the Hindu calendar month of Aswina. (Every Hindu month is divided into a light half generally fortnight long, when the moon waxes, and a dark half, when it wanes.) By the Gregorian calendar, Diwali generally falls in October or November; in 2003, it begins on October 25..
Deepavali
‼ Aum, Asato maa sadgamaya, Tamaso maa jyotirgamaya ‼
Thought One
Diwali is a short name for Deepavali.
Deepavali is the festival of Lights. The word 'Deepavali' is made up of two simple words. 'Deepa' means light and 'Avali' means a row. Hence 'Deepavali' means a row of lights.
Diwali is a festival of the light which dispels the darkness of our ignorance and lights the way through the jungle that we call life.
The festival is associated with many legends and beliefs. One of them is to commemorate the killing of Narakasura, a notorious demon, by Lord Krishna. Narakasura, because of his previous store of virtue, had been granted a boon at the moment of his death. He asked that his death might ever be, commemorated as a day of feasting. Hence Deepavali is known as 'Naraka Chaturdasi' Krishna proclaimed Narakasura's son Bhagadatta as his father's successor.
It is believed that Narakasura lived in a place called Pragjyotishapura, which is known as 'Assam State' today.
What is interesting to know is that when Krishna wanted to wage war against Narakasura, Krishna's wife Satyabhama, who was adept in archery, wanted to join her husband...and she did.
The fireworks that are burst during Deepavali symbolize the use of fiery weapons used during the war that Krishna waged against the demon. Amongst the North Indians it is believed that Deepavali is the day on which Sri Ram returned from His 14 years of exile in the forest, after having got rid of various demons who made life hell for the sages and common people. Deepavali symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and it celebrates the triumphant return of Sri Ram to His Kingdom. People rejoice by burning earthen oil lamps to welcome Sri Ram back to His throne.
On Deepavali day, the members of the mercantile community open and worship new account books and ledgers. This is because during Deepavali the Sun enters its second course and passes Libra, which is represented by the 'Balance' or 'Scale'.
During Deepavali, spring cleaning is done as it is believed that the Goddess of Wealth Laxmi would enter a clean and cheerful house. Plenty of long-lost items are found and a lot of dirt is removed from the house.
How much we care to cast away the rubbish that stirs up trouble within us, is a matter to consider. By lighting lamps in our home, let us strive to dispel the spiritual darkness that we seem to be seeped in, and let us make our heart a place in which Sri Ram may reign and bring about peace love and prosperity. A true Ram-Rajya, the All-Around Auspicious Kingdom of Sri Ram. Happy Diwali
Farewell Singapore!!
Stop Bullying
Hey Girl,
How are you and hope you are doing find. Whatever your past entails. Don't look back ok. Forget about Nic or Fauzi and whoever else that was in your way in the past. No one is coming to your rescue.
You have to rescue yourself. No matter how people say its your fault or blame you for their mistakes or downfall. Don't despair. IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.
A person only does what one think is right at that point of time. .... from there on one can only move on to suffer and strengthen oneself to face what consequences there is to follow.
You are only as strong as your last fall.
SO PEOPLE STOP BULLYING MY FRIEND!! She's gone through enough. Sometimes she is just way tooooooo open and her mouth may fly. But hold no grudge against her. I've known her way toooooooooooo long.
Keep in touch. ..... love ya alwayzzzzzzz
Reality Checks
First night at BR.  It was cozy and comfortable.  Privacy was close not none.
Reminded me of the time when I was at D CT.  There were nine of us!!  My parents, grandmother, the four girls and the two boys.  Taking turns at the PC.  Having a schedule on who's turn to clean up the toilet and bathroom.  We all had to watch program that was suitable or rather likable by all.  If we want to listen to something different ..... well, there's my other companion the discman plugged in my ears.  But that ain't such a good idea cause when someone calls you ..... you are totally deaf to the world.
It was fun though, rough housing with each other and all our ups and downs then.
Nevertheless, its a cozy place and IS call a home.  Where more adventures of the world awaits us.  What they are I cannot tell.  Hhhhhmmmm more like adventures surround us rather than the place.
So Woodies ... fare you well.  You are just a house now where memories will always be within us.
Final Farewell
Soon we bid our final farewell to the "old" place we once called our home.  It was uneventful.  Even I was not there to grace the occasion.
Last minute packing and items to be thrashed.  I finally decided to take the good old telly from my room, princess's pc table and the comfortable chair whereby she did countless of hours doing her work or just dozing around.  My stuff which mounted quite a bit over the years.
Where was I??  Wasting my time at the hospital with my mum.  Who in the end refuses to listen to the doctor's advice.  Don't even ask why I even bother.
I suppose when you are old ..... is not what the doctor say or the medication the patient will be receiving.  But it just the ACTUAL visit to the doctor where the patient finds some comfort.  Gosh!!  I hope I'm never like that when I grow old!!
So today ..... the children, their mothers will be visiting mum.  That would cheer her up!  At the same time there's a night market held at the JE Central.  So the kids will enjoy the rides .... and I'll chaperon them.  It would be fun.  I can't wait!!
Its 17:18hrs and I've to get back to JE, my mum soon.  Actually I can't believe I just dropped by just so I can use the phone here.  It beats using my handphone!
Final Move
Manage to get to Woodies on time but the wait for the movers were like forever!! After negotiating with the pricing. We finally made our move. Man!! They were good, fast and efficient.
Once the truck left we left in two separate cabs. The two beaus were absolutely wonderfully helpful. It wasn't long before the small hole became a nice comfortable studio apartment. Where the new chic stuff blend in with the old. We had late supper or dinner. It was way pass midnight before first princess had her showers followed by me ...... Boiled water and Chomelanggun made us some delicious hot Milo. I was greatful for that. The beau helped us do our bedding of sofa bed. Boy!!! That's comfortable. Right after the rerun of CSI we were completely knocked out ... or rather I was knocked out.
The beau never stopped breaking his and princess manage to settle all her dressings, Chomelanggun also sorted out what stuff she has and found out that some were like bringing coal to Newcastle!! But you have to understand that she is doing this all alone and is already warned out.
So more busier tomorrows..... the final stage fixing up the Gas!
The Move
Its now 11:31hrs ..... yup, I guess I overslept.  Just need to make sure that dishes are done before I leave.
Its a big day today.  I'm kinda worried about my stuff.  If I bring it back to JE means I've to carry it all the way up the the 3rd floor.  If I bring it to LP it would be easier because there is a lift landing on every floor.  Problem is .... I don't want too many stuff here because when or IF the Longbottom's do take over the place that would mean I have more stuff to take out.
Decisions, decisions, decisions ..... how I hate making them. .... but I know its a must.  Ok ok its 11:37hrs now.  I better get going.  Its about a 45mins ride from here.
Freedom and Space
Soon the shifting will be done. They decided to shift on Monday rather than to wait till next week.
So the changes will hit harder and sooner than expected. Take the change in stride. Freedom and space is something ALL of us never stop ranting about EVERY SINGLE DAY.
That word freedom .... I never stop thinking .... democracy, revolution, civil rights?? is there really such a thing as Freedom in the first place?? I mean let's just think about it for a minute.
For each freedom there is always a cause to tag along with it. Before you are 21 you are dictated by your parents, guardian, elders. Saying - you are just a kid. freedom is a PRIVILEGE NOT AN OPTION. Words such as these is common saying which all of us must have heard it once too many times before in some point of time in our life time.
But what would happen if we lack or being deprive of freedom and space - hhhhmmm mutiny, rebel with or without a cause, violent??
So maybe in truth there is no such thing as freedom. We always seem to be doing something for something.
Key phrase - treasure what little freedom we have and to savour every second. Think for that moment as eternity. This always seems to help me in some small way.
Just nice ..... 04:55hrs and CSI has just ended .... and is the call to my bed.
Day with the Young Un
Saturday .... everyone left but Shahrazad and me. What a day it was. The night before both of us slept pretty late. Actually, I knocked out like a light before she did!!
So obviously it was a late morning by the time we got up. ... or rather She got up. she has grown so much and so independent I could not believe it!! While getting dress she busied herself making her own breakfast.
Marshmallow toast??? Oh well, as long as she likes it. Gas had run out and she soooooooooooo wanted "BBQ" Marshmallow. So since we ain't got no gas we did it over a lighter!!
For the past few weeks my handphone has become like a toy to Sara and Shahrazad. Playing games, creating what art they could with photos taken by them. Actually they are quite good.
Watched "Fat Albert the movie" followed by "Shaggy the Dog" followed by "Frankenfish". Surprisingly she's seen it even though it was a gory movie and was telling me the story!!
Downing with Pizza, Milk and Pepsi. Lately my diet has been made up of mostly HL Milk and more HL MilK. Downing it while watching movie. She helped me sat the table an all without me having to tell her!! Gosh!! She must have grown behind my back!! Gone are the days when I use to cradle her to sleep when I babysit her.
Went swimming for about an hour. Went to the playground .... I really miss playing on the swing. Its been ages since I last swam in that pool.
The minute we walked through the door my handphone rang. Mistake for the day ..... didn't call the mum to inform her the time I'd sent her home.
I didn't even realise that she hung up on her mum untill much later when I found the phone off the HOOK!! Hey, don't be too hard on her ok. Its me you are having trouble with so don't vent it out on her k.
I took her back home just as you wanted it but when you weren't home she started to tear almost to a soft sob. But I knew she was holding it back trying hard to look brave.
Anyways .... weekends is good to be at LP cause I can catch up with my all time fave TV programme. .... CSI, CSI and more CSI.
Its 04:30hrs now .... and I am already watching the second running of CSI Supreme!! But I know I have to hit the sack soon cause I promise I'd be at Woodies before 14:00hrs.
Yup, I'll sleep after this ... I meant after CSI ;)
